What you can safely check: confirm the model number on your Ghost Controls operator (usually a sticker on the motor housing), inspect the bracket for visible cracks or rust weeping, and verify whether the bracket is bolted or welded to the post. If it is bolted and the bolts are accessible, you can check for looseness with a wrench. Do not attempt this with the operator energized; disconnect power at the breaker first.

Where DIY goes wrong: cutting a welded bracket free without supporting the gate leaves hundreds of pounds of steel unsupported.
